Rescue 100 Mission

The mission of Rescue 100 is to advocate for vulnerable children and their families in Mississippi. The organization recruits, trains, and supports foster parents statewide; equips the families of children at risk of entering the foster care system; and provides specialized training for individuals working with vulnerable children.

Rescue 100 is a Mississippi 501(c)(3) nonprofit based in Gulfport. Its work centers on advocating for vulnerable children and families while strengthening the community around them. Rescue 100 trains and supports foster, adoptive, and kinship parents, partnering with various organizations to improve the safety, stability, and well-being of vulnerable children. Its roots trace back to the original Rescue 100 initiative, which united churches, community leaders, and child-welfare organizations to recruit and prepare more foster families.

The organization’s community involvement spans several key areas:

  • Foster-care advocacy and awareness: Helping communities understand the needs of children in foster care and encouraging public involvement, as well as training parents and volunteers in trauma-informed caregiving.
  • Church and community partnerships: Rooted in a faith-based effort, Rescue 100 works through churches and community organizations to mobilize volunteers, resources, and foster families.
  • Practical support for children: Rescue 100 provides essential items for foster children, including Christmas support, duffel bags, clothing, baby supplies, beds, backpacks, and other necessities.
  • Community Initiatives and Events: The broader Rescue 100 effort includes:
    • Designing and decorating the Harrison County Visitation Center and the Harrison County Youth Court.
    • Co-hosting Communities of Hope recruitment efforts with the Mississippi Department of Child Protection Services (MDCPS).
    • Co-hosting Trust-Based Relational Intervention (TBRI) trainings with CASA.
    • Co-hosting adoption celebrations and foster family events alongside the youth court and MDCPS.
    • Teaching trauma-informed practices to Friends of Court volunteers.
    • Providing trauma-informed interactive training and resources to caregivers.
    • Hosting Families Count classes to equip biological families with the knowledge, skills, an dsupport needed to strengthen their families.
